Standard aluminum plate alloys stocked the size including : as small as 50mm x 30mm in size up to and including 6m x 2m in size, from 6mm thick to 380mm thick. For products less than 6mm thick – we classify this as aluminum sheet.
Standard aluminum plate alloys instruction:
Aluminium Alloy 7075 is a very high strength aircraft alloy. It exhibits good machninability and hardness. It is not suitable for welding or corrosion resistance.
Aluminium Alloys 6082/6061 are widely used structural alloys for light to medium strength applications. They combine good formability, weldability, corrosion resistance and strength after heat treatment. Since they lose appreciable strength when welded, the 5000 series alloys replace them in some marine applications. Availability of bars, shapes, tubing and pipe in the same alloy helps make this a popular selection. 6082 is the most common heat treated plate from stock.
Aluminium 5454 is used for all types of welded structures used for hot asphalt road tankers, dump bodies, pressure vessels and marine structures.
Aluminium 5086 is excellent for welded structures – ship hulls and superstructures, road tankers, pressure vessels, movable and stationary cryogenic vessels and structures requiring a high rate of energy absorption.
Aluminium 5083 is suited to high strength welded applications with outstanding joint strength – rail wagons, marine components, bridges, stationary cryogenic vessels and overhead cranes. Excellent weldability and corrosion resistance. Static welded strength is second only to 5754 aluminum alloy pale.
